The Snetterton round of the TCR UK Touring Car Championship delivered an outstanding weekend for Matrix Motorsport and driver Jeff Alden, who battled through challenging conditions and technical setbacks to leave Norfolk still leading the Gen 1 Cup Championship.

Following the PowerMaxed fire and the loss of the team’s Audi Gen 1 car, the team reverted to the TCR Opel Astra Gen 1 for Snetterton and the upcoming Brands Hatch finale. Despite the short turnaround, the PowerMaxed crew — led by Jack and Josh — worked tirelessly to prepare a reliable, competitive car, and their efforts paid off in style.

Starting from the back of the grid after a poor qualifying, Jeff produced a superb drive through the field to finish 12th overall and 2nd in class. In difficult wet conditions, the Astra proved both quick and consistent, giving the team confidence heading into Race 2.

Lining up 12th on the grid, Jeff made rapid progress through the pack, climbing as high as 8th overall before settling for a strong 9th-place finish and taking 1st in class. It was a composed and strategic drive that demonstrated both car balance and driver control in treacherous conditions.

Summary

Despite the challenges of rebuilding the car and adapting to the Astra platform, Matrix Motorsport’s preparation and teamwork ensured another successful weekend. The results at Snetterton reinforce Jeff’s position at the top of the Gen 1 Cup standings, setting up an exciting season finale at Brands Hatch in November.

“It was a great weekend for the team — the car ran faultlessly thanks to the hard work of everyone at PowerMaxed. We’re proud to come away still leading the Gen 1 Cup and can’t wait for the final round,” said Jeff Alden.
