Jeff Alden began the Silverstone weekend with a commanding performance in qualifying. Behind the wheel of his Audi RS3 LMS SEQ, Alden posted a 59.386, securing P1 in the Gen 1 Cup and 15th overall on the grid—a strong position amidst a field of newer Gen 2 machinery.
While the outright fastest times were in the 57-second bracket set by front-runners like Steve Laidlaw, Alden was clearly the man to beat in the Gen 1 category, positioning himself perfectly for the races ahead.
Race 1 – Saturday (Round 6)
Starting from pole in the Gen 1 Cup, Alden made a stunning start and held p8 at the start then maintained composure throughout Race 1, staying out of trouble and delivering a clean, consistent performance. His racecraft and awareness ensured he brought the car home as Gen 1 Cup winner, marking his first class victory of the weekend and finishing 11th in the overall result
Race 2 – Sunday (Round 7)
Race 2 delivered more of the same clinical precision. Alden once again dominated the Gen 1 field, fending off any potential threats with a combination of pace and race management. Social media buzzed post-race, with fans and commentators recognising his back-to-back wins.
“Two-time Gen One Cup winner Jeff Alden is sat next to me here at Silverstone. Jeff, Race 2 has just been completed.” – Paul O’Neill commentary
Race 3 – Sunday (Round 8)
On Sunday afternoon Alden made it a hat-trick of wins in the Gen 1 Cup. Delivering yet another assured drive, he crossed the line 3.6 seconds clear of nearest rival Alex Jones, cementing his dominance at Silverstone. Post-race, Alden was interviewed by touring car legend Paul O’Neill:
“Jeff Alden spoke to Paul O’Neill after completing a hat-trick of Gen 1 Cup wins at Silverstone. The Audi RS3 LMS has looked planted all weekend!”
This third win confirmed his clean sweep and gave Audi and the Power Maxed Racing team a perfect result in class.
Championship Outlook
Following his Silverstone hat-trick, Alden heads up the Gen 1 Cup standings and continues to be the leading contender in his class. While 15th overall in the championship (with 54 points) reflects the gap between Gen 1 and Gen 2 cars in overall pace, his consistency, reliability, and clean racing are unmatched in category.
