Jeff Alden – 2025 TCR UK Gen 1 Cup Champion

QUALIFYING – TECHNICAL ISSUES PUT US AT THE BACK

The weekend began with frustration as a persistent technical fault prevented Jeff from completing a competitive qualifying run. Only one timed lap was possible, placing the Matrix Motorsport Opel Astra TCR at the very back of the grid for Race One. With the gremlin unresolved, Race One was always going to be about damage limitation and championship preservation.

RACE ONE – NURSING A WOUNDED CAR TO A CLASS PODIUM

Starting last and still carrying the mechanical issue, Jeff circulated around 20 seconds off the pace, focusing purely on keeping the car in one piece. Despite the lack of speed, consistency and discipline paid off as a number of rivals suffered failures of their own.

Jeff brought the car home safely to finish:

🏁 18th overall

🏆 2nd in Gen 1 class

A vital haul of points, especially given the circumstances.

RACE TWO – P2 ON THE ROAD, P1 IN CLASS, AND THE TITLE SECURED

With strong overnight work from the Matrix crew, the Astra returned to form for the second race. Several competitors were unable to take the start, moving Jeff up to P14 on the grid.

At lights out, Jeff made a superb launch and was inside the top 10 by Druids. A spin by Darrel Wilson at Surtees forced Jeff to check up and lose momentum, but once clear of the incident, the battle for the Gen 1 honours truly ignited.

Jeff engaged in a brilliant multi-car fight with Alex Jones and Jenson Going, taking the Gen 1 lead, slipping back, then charging forward again as the race unfolded.

Across the line, Jeff finished:

🏁 P2 on the road in class

BUT…

The car ahead was not eligible for championship points, meaning Jeff was officially:

🏆 P1 in Gen 1 for championship scoring

This confirmed him as the 2025 TCR UK Gen 1 Cup Champion.

A perfect fightback after a difficult start to the weekend — and a champion’s drive when it counted most.

Minutes after the chequered flag, TCR UK announced Jeff as the first crowned champion of the weekend, confirming what the team already knew — a full season of hard work, consistency, and relentless determination had delivered the title.
