TCR UK | Donington Park, Rounds 1-3
22nd-23rd March 2025

Matrix Motorsport kicked off the 2025 TCR UK season in spectacular fashion at Donington Park, securing three class wins across the opening weekend. The new Audi RS3, expertly prepared and run by Power Maxed Racing, delivered a faultless performance despite the team going into the event without any pre-season testing.
Race One
Starting from the back of the grid, we made a lightning start and had climbed to P8 by Redgate. Unfortunately, contact from behind at Turn 1 forced us into the gravel. Thanks to a safety car deployment following multiple incidents, we were able to rejoin the race from the back of the field. Once racing resumed, we charged through the pack, taking the lead in the Gen 1 class and finishing an impressive P8 overall – a superb recovery drive and a great way to begin the season.
Race Two
Sunday began with a wet and overcast Donington Park. After evaluating track conditions, we opted for wet tyres on the grid – a decision mirrored by several other teams. Starting third on the reverse grid, we moved up to P2 by Turn 1 and held the position through the opening lap. Under pressure from the faster Gen 2 cars, we stayed consistent and maintained the Gen 1 class lead, eventually finishing inside the overall top ten once again. Another solid performance and a clean race.
Race Three
The final race of the weekend saw us return to our original qualifying position at the back of the grid. A strong start placed us just outside the top ten by the end of lap one. From there, a tense battle developed with George Jackson, who was leading the Gen 1 class at the time. We made a clean move around the outside at Redgate and held the advantage through the Craner Curves. Continuing our push, we kept things clean and consistent to claim another Gen 1 class win and a top ten overall finish.
Looking Ahead
It’s been a fantastic start to the season for Matrix Motorsport, with three class victories and consistent top-ten finishes. We now look ahead to Silverstone on the 17th and 18th of May, aiming to build on our early momentum, maintain our Gen 1 championship lead, and continue climbing the overall TCR UK standings. Thanks to our sponsors for their continued support and to Martin Jack and Josh at Powermaxed racing for their excellent support.
