Matrix Motorsport launches its 2018 campaign

Press Information - 19th March 2018

In conjunction with the official Renault UK Clio Cup season launch at Silverstone last week, Matrix Motorsport announced its sponsors and supporting partners and, at the same time, revealed its full livery for the 2018 season. The occasion also marked the first time all four Matrix Motorsport cars were seen together, an impressive sight and a proud moment for everyone involved with the team.

The day began with a gathering of all the Clio Cup drivers for a media presentation and interviews. This was followed during the course of the morning by a series of photo calls that included tracking shots around Silverstone’s National circuit and a line-up of all this year’s competing cars on the grid.

The afternoon comprised three, 45-minute test sessions, with all four Matrix Motorsport drivers taking to the track: Mike Epps, Aaron Thompson, Andy Wilmot and Jeff Alden. At the end of the tests, the team was extremely satisfied when the time sheets revealed that three of its drivers had set top five lap times, performances that bode well for the season ahead.

“I must admit that to see all four cars and the whole team turned out in the Matrix Motorsport colours, was an extremely proud moment for me. I must therefore thank everyone who has enabled us to get as far as we have after just seven months since we decided to go ahead with this ambitious project”, said Driver and Team Principal Jeff Alden.

“To have four cars running in our first season competing in a high-profile national championship is quite an achievement in itself. It’s a very competitive environment to be in and we know that as the new kids on the block there will be lots of people watching us.

“But seeing three of our drivers setting top five times in the launch day test session signals that we should be on the pace from the word go. It will be fantastic if we can score some podium results this year and we’re now looking forward to the first two rounds at Brands Hatch on 7th & 8th April. Exciting times ahead!”
