Following his first full season of circuit racing in 2018, Matrix Motorsport team owner Jeff Alden has joined forces with Maximum Motorsport to enter this year’s Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup.

 

Driving a Mk5 Golf GTi, Jeff will contest all but one event in the season’s seven-round, 14-race championship that kicks off at Oulton Park on Easter Bank Holiday Monday, 22nd April.

 

Having raced in the 18-round Renault UK Clio Cup series last year, the Cheltenham-based businessman is no stranger to single-make competition and is excited to be returning to the tracks for a new challenge in a different car:

 

“Having competed in Time Attack and a number of club-level races previously, I have to admit that last year with the Clios was a steep learning curve for me. But you have to pick things up quickly in a single make environment and therefore, I go into this season with a great deal more experience behind me.

 

“I’m really looking forward to getting out there again, especially in a championship as competitive as the Volkswagen Racing Cup. It’s going to be interesting to see how it goes, as I realise there are drivers there who have been competing in the championship for a number of years now. So if I can grab some good results this season, then I’ll be very happy. Bring it on!”
