Matrix Motorsport’s Jeff Alden combines Civic Cup campaign with appearances in TCR UK

PRE-SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT

4th April 2023

Following a full season in last year’s Civic Cup, Jeff Alden has confirmed his return to the championship in 2023, driving the same Matrix Motorsport Honda Civic FN2 he successfully campaigned in 2022. In addition, the London-based businessman is planning to make two appearances in TCR UK, driving a Vauxhall Astra run in association with DW Racing.

A determined and consistent showing in 2022 that resulted in three pole positions and a series of top-ten finishes, has incentivised Jeff to return to the Civic Cup and use the experienced gained to build on his past performance. And, whilst he’s happy to leave the younger drivers to fight amongst themselves, one of Jeff’s goals will be to battle for the coveted Diamond Trophy, an award presented to drivers aged 40 and over.

Always looking for new challenges and the thrill that comes with increased competition, on occasions when there is no clash of dates with the Civic Cup, Jeff is planning two TCR UK Championship outings, one at Silverstone in August and another at Donington Park in September.

Having taken part in a TCR UK round in 2019 driving a Honda Civic, Jeff was pleased to be back in a TCR car when he tested the Astra earlier this year. Happy with the outcome, he looks forward to what promises to be a memorable season:

“This year is going to be one of building on experience in the Civic Cup and exploring new limits in TCR UK. Whilst both championships are highly competitive, the two cars are very different in terms of performance and characteristics, so it will be interesting to jump from one to the other and see what can be achieved.

“Of course, with a full programme with the Honda in store, my motivation when it comes to championship standings will be with the Civic Cup, whereas with just two rounds in TCR UK it will be a case of learning the car, getting used the environment and focussing on lap times and race positions.

“I’m pleased to confirm that our established commercial partners are continuing to provide invaluable support this season: Matrix Group, SEE Services, Matrix 19 Consultancy, MML, HVAC Recruitment, RPM Promotions and Gemstones Consultancy - so we’re all set for what promises to be an exciting season ahead!”
